Food for the journey: bite-sized, mid-week nourishment

Sunday saw us begin a short, 3 week mini-series on three key aspects of the faith:

*death and resurrection
*the cost of faith
*the necessity of love

This week, as we think about that core element of Christian teaching, resurrection, a quote from Prof. Eugene Peterson on living into our resurrection:

‘The practice of resurrection is an intentional, deliberate decision
to believe and participate in resurrection life:
life out of death,
life that trumps death,
life that is the last word;
Jesus life.’

And a prayer:
God of life and resurrection
teach us that, for us, every day is Easter.
Remind us that, in you, we celebrate good news:
your victory over the powers of death and evil
is news so startling, so amazing, so different from the news that bombards us day by day.
Help us live into the resurrection –
to live life abundantly, and having lived, to share in life eternal with you.
In your risen power, shape all our days.
Startle us again and again with resurrection life,
a life that brings grace and hope and joy.
We give you thanks and praise, Amen
