This morning we moved from Jesus' baptism, to the days following, and reflected upon Jesus' invitation to 'come and see' who he is.
Our readings were:
Isaiah 49:1-7; 1 Cor. 1:10-18; John 1:29-42
The sermon was split into two shorter reflections, with the first of these telling the story of 'Sean' who lived an ordinary life until one day, he lost his focus and found himself in a very dark hole indeed until someone posted a candle and some matches through his letterbox - and how the small, flickering light helped to pull him out of the hole. How might we bring light to dark places?
The second reflection told Pippa's story - who loved having visitors, and had a very different sland on viewing the world. She delighted in involving folk in her life - 'come and see', she would say after a bear hug of a welcome and you would enter into her world of odd cooking experiments, pottery blobs, and where rainbows were 'God hugs'...
Jesus too, invites his friends to 'come and see', and then 'go and tell' the good news of God's love.
